hey just wondering if you guys think much about the people who were born in the city, with no land, forced to work unsatisfying and unhealthy jobs just to maintain basic cost of living / no choice and little free time to think let alone act on things like food supply.. meanwhile folk like Joel Salatin and organic farmers sell their produce for 3x the price to "successful" bourgoisie, give their misshapen fruit to the pigs, and get rather outspoken about how we're not doing enough.... here in aus, people were given free land by english governors in the 19th century.. now their great-grandchildren charge me $7 for a cauliflower, or they'll throw it to the pigs, which they then slit the throat of and eat. i just don't really see the humanity, the kindness or the rationality of that...
i avoid employment as much as possible, work as freelance permaculturist for neighbourhoods and new rural communities.. but the issue of land ownership remains. here in aus we have farmers ready to shoot themselves because they can't afford enough fertiliser for their 15,000 hectares of wheat.. i wonder why these landed folk aren't inviting us able-minded, able-bodied inner-city people to be your permanent neighbours, forever, and create a permanently sustainable village culture... the dream of permaculture... a family only needs a hectare or so to live.. you guys look great in mountain designs hiking gear and writing books about compost... but is there a plan to accommodate, integrate and inspire the mainstream who were born deep inside a crazily unhealthy system?
i can see your heart's in the right place so i take the time to share these ideas with you... whether you take or leave is ultimately up to you but i reall think i'm speaking for billions of people out there.... in the developed west we expected to spend our whole lives earning money to buy land... yet the system of pollution and destruction doesn't fall until we earth-loving people have the chance to live and remain on our own piece of the earth... there we can regenerate the natureal order and harmony.. trees growing tall.. berries underneath.. vines, herbs, mushrooms, fruit, vegetables, bees, pollen on the wind... clean water.. we can make new inventions on plant techniques and useful designs for houses and structures.. investigate inter-personal energies and best ways to organise settlements and societies. create global communication networks for peaceful interaction.. ultimately to fill the entire planet with a lovingly tended, multi-story garden home.. and then to settle an empty planet with an evern more perfect nature than this one...
i eat from community gardens, build planter boxes on my block, forage wild berries, mushrooms and herbs in my local park... and so i get abused, derided as an idiot and told i'm mentally ill. i'm 24 now, taking three months to follow dreams and feelings to find my sweetheart, then ready to settle in a spot that i'll stay for a long time. i'll take debt if i have to.. the concept is illusory. with a strong will I can definitely avoid the threatening terror of dispossession. but i am still confused why people who have the opportunity to help and make a huge fast progress towards a peaceful, abundant and universally cheerful planet, are still stressing over huge properties, inviting wwoofers, wondering why the wwoofers don't work that hard and leave.. so then you have to find more... etc.
it's pretty simple... offer permanent, stable, forever homes for like-minded people who want to perfect the earth, live on it forever with their sweethearts, and who aspire to live as part of nature. it'll take a few generations for a fully sustainable way of life to occur.. let's get the process started by getting some settlements together .. it's not for everyone, but there are defeinitely willing people who will make bloody awesome neighbours, enrich your lives and enliven the soul of the whole planet... for anyone who has land, this is the rational move.. for universal benefit.. try it for a bit, see if it works.. but please note.. the offer has got to be for a permanent home for one's children.. that's how we motivate ourselves to make a place beautiful, stable, lovely, healthy, sustainable, ecologically clean... for our future generation and a place for our own souls to reincarnate in the future... lease agreements or wwoofing arrangements might last for a short time, but the motivation dwindles as the feeling of exploitation sets in... there are millions of us young people, myself very much included, who have gotten to the point of depression where a tangible, real offer for a beautiful, sustainable natural future is the only thing that will inspire us to live again. there are illnesses, both mental and physical, in this society, which can only be cured by one's own family home, a lovingly tended piece of nature that is a real home! where the plants know you, create nutrients and vitamins specfically for you! a place that is actually yours. not the bank's, not the landlord's, not the governments...... really yours.. a piece of native earth for us native earthlings.
the joy, inspiration and genuinely beautiful creation that is ready to be witnessed here is huge... i am simply a bit confused why the people who have this capacity as landowners or wealthy folk, aren't taking advantage of the abundantly enormous amounts of love they could be receiving from us switched-on, enthusiastic young folk who are currently trapped inside urban consumerist oblivion. the only visible way out is to keep bending our subservient backs to employers and philanthropists, to keep spraying our love and our effort around various business and companies until it accumulates in the bank accounts of chronically depressed, addicted rich folks.. that's what's visible. but luckily i investigate and work with invisible energies too... we are ready for the offers.. let me tell you. clear, simple, trusting, confident offers for a hectare of permanent forever home.. a corner of earth to make perfect and a loving family home with our sweethearts. that's what we want, right?
