Through our co-operation we are now preparing a clear and accurate statement describing the exact series of events regarding the creation of the new, Russian-owned English edition. I will provide some of that information for you here now.
The American editions altered the images encoded by Anastasia. The publishers and distributors admit to this themselves - they say it on their websites and in private conversation. They consider it their work to "adapt" the text for a Western audience, also omitting at least one full chapter. My colleagues and I are still taking account of what precisely these alterations entailed.
What we already know, is that the characteristics of a family homeland and family settlement (родовое поместье, родовых поселение) are not set forth clearly in the American versions. The fundamental term "род", meaning something like "infinite eternal family from the wellspring of life including all ancestors and all descendants", is translated several separate ways with weak and uninteresting words.
Significantly in the new translations, the word "family" is used to indicate the common root of the specific Ringing Cedars terms "родовое поместье" and "Родная Партия", meaning respectively, "ancestral family homeland" and "Ancestral Family Party" (the political party). I hope you don't consider our work to be divisive. We are strenuously working towards a united planetary movement for the Ringing Cedars of Russia series.
You must understand that the American publishers very seriously damaged the English-language relation with the Megre family, resulting in considerable mistrust and animosity. Their attitude and decisions were not friendly or equitable. I would describe them as of esoteric superiority - they repelled co-operation from readers, and failed to organise any readers' groups. Then they fought Vladimir in court, consequently ceasing to pay royalties while losing the right to print any more books.
At first, not knowing this, I had no prejudice against the American publishers. I dutifully read all their books, talked with them about distribution, and attended the festival they recommended in Australia. Yet something was clearly lacking. They were not really dedicated or inspired by the series. I had the feeling they hadn't read all the books, and didn't even know about Book 10, though this cannot be confirmed. Once I'd finished reading Book 10, I researched the situation in Russia, then travelled to settlements in Lithuania and Краснодар. Everything became much clearer.
Since then I have observed the effects of the books in various languages, publications, editions, countries and cultures around the world and come to the conclusion that the American translations are seriously sabotaged. Alone, they are unable to materialise family settlements and therefore are not sufficient to inspire a perfect, completed earthly habitat. Among ourselves, the publishers and distributors of the new Russian-owned translations, we imagine that the American versions will soon disappear, lingering only as a bad memory. As far as I am aware, the only family settlement in the English-speaking world is in the United States, in Maine. I will be extremely delighted to hear about more family settlements, and more, and more. Please let me know, and I will update all our published information accordingly.
It is important to observe that Anastasia anticipated the counterfeit American translations and calculated her moves in counterbalance. Grandfather says in Book 6, "Even now, in another country, agents of the dark forces are distorting Anastasia's images, attempting through this sham to defame the movement." Of course they succeeded. One need only browse the search results for "Ringing Cedars" in the English language to see the smattering of wildly ecstatic, impractical material mixed with bitter criticism and attribution as a cult.
As a result, Russia has had a significant head-start on the English-speaking world in creating family settlements. There are over 400 in Russia today, of various sizes. The largest are clusters of settlements separated by strips of forest. There are hundreds of individual family homelands appearing in Europe, though no settlements have yet been established there.
We who eagerly seek to create our own homelands in the English world have had to wait, cautiously, carefully, planning in minute detail how to bring the idea into our society properly, purely, responsibly, maintaining trust and friendship in co-operation, and avoiding the mistakes of the failed splinter movement.
Now we have to recover from our damaging association with those people and their unscrupulous business attitude.
Now we have to listen carefully and observe the actions of the Megre family and the Russian settlers who have already founded their readers' villages ten or fifteen years ago.
I share Anastasia's imagery as my own, and hold it in my thought as our collective aspiration for a new, cleaner and more loving planet Earth. There is a simple, straight-forward sequence of events that must occur to materialise it.
