Camping is wonderful, some excellent people and so so beautiful nature.. noistabo as they say in lietuvski... some people still determined about destruction and depression so I stay clear of that.. still a good place to meet many smart and resilient people.. quite a journey to make it into this remote meadows.. and the rewards.. meadows of flowers and strawberries, fresh cut hay, so rich air, a huge clean freshwater lake that locals swim and drink from.. huge old oak trees 400-500 years.. mixed pine, oak, spruce, plane, maple, birch, beech, larch forest.. seeing how to prepare and use SAP, resin, timber etc. From local oldsters helping in festival preparations. Have dug and lined well, constructed bore pump, shelters, and cultivating harmony among diverse group.. water air and plants so very very lovely. Land so fertile, getting warmer every year, so cheap and population dropping here.. locals so happy that foreigners interested in them.. so easy hitch hike and friend gave me place to stay in local town last night.. very wet and cold in winter, stunning beautiful lakes forests meadows.. young people so enthusiastic once we start talking permaculture and making living in ecological way from land. Easy to get residency in Baltic and slavic states for Australia pasport.
I exercising, relaxing and enjoying.. sharing some handcraft and foraging knowledge.. preparing nettles for fibre and carving signs for festival. Avoid the consumer excess as much as possible to make easy on my body. So much good place to think and dream in the open... Missing the feeling of really belonging for the long term and still looking to find that place as soon as I can.. no hurry after all..
Invited to build festival and ecovillage structures with very lively lietuvski oldster who has big forest knowledge and widely travelled in this area.. a way of collecting the money doing something that we love, as he says.. natural building from forest timber and wooden joinery... Possibility some months after Russia festival.. better option still to find long term spot and start building there, growing abundance and surplus is the moat stable and secure living..
Came into town to send this mail, stay in touch with Australia! Walked 8 km and 20 min bus ride. Pretty easy and I will do again in some days or weeks. Photo of nearby meadow, as I didn't have phone at main camp. More photos to follow. Only 15-20 people now, will grow to 2000-3000 in some weeks..
Made contact with festival and village in Russia, they are interested to collaborate with our festival and help establish permenet village out of the interest in ecological friendly lifestyle here.. I will focalise this during festival and help create founding group..
